FAIL: Johnny Canuck
You have to admit, this is one helluva coincidence.
The one on the left is the Johnny Canuck logo that will adorn the shoulder of Vancouver's new third jersey, which will be worn Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The one on the right is the corporate logo for
Vachon, a
Canadian maker of pastries.
We doubt this was intentional, if only to maintain
our belief in humanity. Surely the Canucks' marketing
department didn't swipe the Johnny Canuck logo from
Vachon like they swiped the
7th Canuck from the Seahawks and
Forever Faithful from the Red Sox. Ripping
off other professional sports teams is one thing (OK,
two things) - copying a glorified bakery is another.
Either way, if this story gains some traction - for
example, if Johnny Canuck is Photoshopped swinging an
axe at a bunch of Vachon's finest
Billot Logs - it'll be yet another epic FAIL on
the Canucks' marketing report card for 2008.
